Hi,
I probably dove in yesterday without explaining exactly what i'm doing;
In Feb/March i decided to take part with one or two others in the Raid Pyrennes from word of mouth the group grew to ten. (ten men with a little part of their brain missing). Luckily my employment has ceased in May so currently have time to get out either in morning or evening during the week and really up my training, without taking over my weekends like it did before.
July was decided on for the raid, landing in France the day after the end of the tour. So it should be hot. The route will be at least 720km, i can see us breaking that and getting much more with wrong turns and getting to the hotel and out in the morning. Their will be over 11,000 metres of climbing which will be real test of my legs. The climbs are hard find like that in Ireland, either their not as steep or their steep but very short.
In addition i then decided been a serious challenge that would probably be up their as one of my most difficult tasks iv faced I decided I should also raise some money for charity at the same time. It is in aid of Crumlins Children Hospital, my donation page is here if you want know more.

So with all that im hitting the bike hard, improving my off bike training, and trying watch what i eat a bit, all while trying to enjoy it for what it is a great challenge.
Any sponsorship is greatly appreciated
The two bikes im training with:
The heavier alu bike, 105 groupset 2010 model not as shiny these days.
The new bike, full carbon, full ultegra, will change wheels for trip and maybe swap the saddle
.
Regards
G
